Nine Charged With Armed Robbery

By Comfort Johnson (Intern)

MONROVIA August 2 (LINA) - Nine persons have been arrested by the Liberia National Police and charged for allegedly breaking into the home of a private citizen.

According to the police charged sheet, the nine were arrested recently, investigated and charged with armed robbery, criminal conspiracy and criminal facilitation.

Those arrested include Junior Jerry, alias School Face, Emmanuel Dolo, alias Saye Logan, Erastus Bartuah, alias Z.B, Hassan Karama, Wellington Johnson, Menwoe Tokpah, Nathaniel Toe alias Black Boy and Mamie Zankpa.

In her complaint victim Yassah Jomah of the City of Paynesville alleged that she was robbed of United States and Liberian dollars as well as valuable items by the accused who entered her residence armed with single barrel guns, cutlasses and other deadly objects and threatened to kill her if she refused to surrender the  valuables they stole.

Defendant Junior Jerry, alias School Face, voluntarily admitted to the crime of armed robbery and named his accomplices as Emmanuel Dolo, Hassan Kamara, and others to be identified.

Defendants Wellington Johnson, Erastus Bartuah and Mamie Zankpah denied being involved in armed robbery, but admitted knowing Junior Jerry.

The nine suspects who appeared before the Monrovia City Court were remanded Thursday at the Monrovia Central Prison pending trial.
