By D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent
ROBERTSPORT, August 2 (LINA) -The Grand Cape Mount County Health Team (CHT) has appealed for additional logistics to enable it intensify the fight against the Ebola disease in the county.
CHT head Dr. Julius Garbo said the needs include an ambulance, five motorbikes and a pick-up to enable members of the health team move into all parts of the county to fight the spread of the deadly disease.
Dr.Garbo told the Liberia News Agency recently that inadequate logistics could frustrate plans to fight the deadly disease in the county, which shares border with Sierra Leone where there is also an outbreak of Ebola.
He explained that the county health team has been operating without an ambulance for the past two years.
Dr.Garbo said when provided, the ambulance will be used to transport suspected Ebola patients to nearby health centers where specimens will be taken to be sent to Monrovia for testing.
He said the motorbikes will be distributed among the health teams in the five districts of the county to enable them monitor suspected Ebola cases in their districts.
Meanwhile, Dr. Garbo has disclosed that an agreement has been reached between his management and the international charity, Medical Teams International (MTI) to provide Ebola prevention awareness training for more than 400 health workers in the county.
