Heath Workers Chased Out Of Mining Town

By Emmanuel Mondaye, LINA Gbarpolu County Correspondent

HENRY TOWN, Gbarpolu County, July 31 (LINA) - Residents of Henry's Town, a diamond mining town in Gbarpolu County, have chased health workers from Monrovia out of the town.

The angry residents claimed their action was based on the fact that they were not given prior notice about the health workers' visit.

They were reportedly dispatched to the town following reports that a middle-aged man, whose name was not disclosed, had dropped and died mysteriously.

The health workers, who returned from the town, told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) that they were prevented from examining the dead man’s corpse to ascertain if the cause of death was Ebola-related.

No health worker sustained injury from the incident, they said.

According to Superintendent Allen Gbowee, Gbarpolu County has not recorded any case of the Ebola since its outbreak in the country in March.
