Bomi: Ebola Claims 3 Health Workers

TUBMANBURG, July 31 (LINA) - Three health workers at the Government Hospital in Tubmanburg,  Bomi County, have succumbed to the Ebola virus, Dr. George Logan, director of the hospital, has disclosed.

He said the three were among 10 Ebola patients recently transferred to Monrovia from Bomi County.

Dr. Logan, who is also Bomi County Health Officer, said authorities of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare informed him about this development on Wednesday, July 30.

Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency Wednesday at the hospital in Tubmanburg, Dr. Logan said presently there is one suspected Ebola patient at the hospital.

He disclosed that all sections at the hospital have been closed, with the exception
of the Emergency Room.

Dr. Logan said the hospital was closed on July 24, but will be reopened to the public on Monday, August 4, as soon it is disinfected and “other things are put in place.”

He also disclosed that teams of health workers are presently in the various districts of the county to educate the people on preventive measures and to spray the areas from where some of the 10 Ebola cases came.

Dr. Logan said some of the suspected Ebola patients came from other districts in the county, including Klay District.

Meanwhile, Dr. Logan has denied the closure of all the clinics in the county, saying that he has no knowledge of the closure of any clinic.

However, when the LINA correspondent visited the Sasstown and Jenneh #3 Community Clinics, he noticed that they were closed to the public.

The correspondent said at the Jenneh #3 Community Clinic he saw patients,
including a pregnant woman, who had gone for treatment, returning home due to the closure of the clinic.
