US Envoy Assures Robertsport of Safe Drinking Water

By D. Ignatius Roberts

ROBERTSPORT, Jan16 (LINA) - United States Ambassador Deborah Malac has assured that 90 percent of residents of Robertsport, the provincial capital of  in Grand Cape Mount County, will have access to clean drinking water.

She regretted that many Liberians still do not have access to safe drinking water, despite the significant improvements made in the water infrastructure over the past decade.

Ambassador Malac made the statement Thursday in Robertsport at a ground-breaking program for the Robertsport Water Pipeline Extension Project.

She said it was regrettable that despite the abundance of water in other parts of the country citizens of Robertsport are still short of the precious resource of clean drinking water.

The U.S envoy said because of the constant shortage of safe drinking water in the city, the U.S. government and other partners have joined hands to construct a water pipeline extension from the water treatment plant into Grand Cape Mount County.

Earlier, Grand Cape Mount County Assistant Superintendent for Development, Tenneh Simpson Kpadebah, thanked the United States and other donors for the project, which is intended to constantly supply safe-drinking water to the citizens.

She admonished residents of Robertsport to take proper care of the facility, when completed.
