Senator Taylor Hosts July 26 Party For Gbenequelleh Residents

By Ballah Kollie, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBENEQUELLEH, July 28 (LINA) –Bong County senior Senator, Jewel Howard Taylor, on Saturday, July 26, hosted an elaborate independence day party for citizens of Gbenequelleh Town in Jorquelleh District Two, Bong County.

Speaking at the program held in the Gbenequelleh Town Hall, the Bong County senior Senator gave a brief history of Liberia’s independence, including the gains made by freed slaves who declared the independence of the country on July 26, 1847.

Madam Taylor urged Liberians to foster the unity that existed among the settlers by being hospitable and demonstrating love for their fellow man.

Meanwhile, Senator Taylor has frowned on delays in the completion of construction work on the clinic in the town, which she blamed on the negligence of the contractor coupled with politicization of the project by some county officials.

She noted: “despite our political differences, the health and wellbeing of the people we lead must supersede those differences.”

The Bong County senior Senator has promised to ensure the successful completion of the clinic before the end of the year.

In remarks, the Clan chiefs of Shensue, Mawuota and Gbaslay clans who attended the party, thanked the senator for the gesture, noting that the Independence Day party hosted by the Senator was the first by an official in the district.
