Bong Superintendent Orders Relocation Of Parking Stations In Gbarnga
By Ballah Kollie, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, July 25 (LINA) – Bong County Superintendent, Selina Polson Mappy, has ordered the police to enforce the relocation and removal of
all packing stations and abandoned vehicles from the Gbarnga City center to the Monrovia Parking station in the Civil Compound in Gbarnga.

She said the proliferation of vehicle and motorcycle parking stations and in street corners is not only impeding the free movement of
pedestrians but also hampering the economic viability of the city.

In a communication to the commander of the Bong detachment of the Liberia National Police, Superintendent Polson Mappy said the
enforcement order is based upon a stakeholders’ meeting held in May this year setting June 15, 2014 as deadline for the relocation
exercise.

She said although the deadline has long expired, the parking stations are yet to be relocated to the designated area at the Monrovia Parking station on the Gbarnga-Ganta road.
At the same time, the Bong County Superintendent has ordered the relocation of the market warehouse on Gbarnga Broad Street to the
newly constructed warehouse at the Ma-Ellen Market also in the Civil Compound Community.

She has also instructed business and vehicle owners wanting to off-load goods on the Gbarnga Broad Street to seek the assistance of
officers of the Liberia National Police before doing so.

The enforcement took effect on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 following a notification from the Federation of Road Transportation Unions of
Liberia (FRTUL) expressing their consent to relocate.
