LOWMAH TOWN, GBARPOLU COUNTY, July 23 (LINA) – The U. N. Development Program (UNDP) Liberia has agreed to support a one-year cassava milling production project in Lowomah Town, Gbarpolu County.
The project, overseen by a local NGO, the Young Liberian Business Women Organization for Improvement (WOFIM), is expected to end in December 2015, according to the Liberia News Agency.
Speaking during the official launch of the project in Lowoman Town on Tuesday, WOFIM Executive Director Kona S. Kollie said UNDP agreed to continue its partnership and support to WOFIM due to the organization’s hard work and commitment in reducing the difficulty facing women farmers.
Kollie noted that the provision of a modern cassava processing machine by UNDP facilitated the processing of cassava into farina during the last couple of years.
WOFIM was established on October 2011 with the objective of reducing poverty amongst the women population of Gbarpolu County through farming and skills training activities.
