Educator Wants WAEC Fast-Track Certificate Issuance
By Chris Nyenapee, LINA Grand Gedeh County Correspondent
ZWEDRU CITY, July 21 (LINA) - The Senior Advisor to the Zwedru School System in Grand Gedeh County, Shelton J. Seidi, has called for the speedy issuance of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) certificates to high school graduate.
He said the delay in issuing the WAEC certificates has a negative effect on graduating seniors, noting that "it diverts their attention and affects their academic sojourn.”
According to the Liberia News Agency, Seidi made the call when he delivered the keynote address at the graduation ceremony of the M. Nixon High School in Zwedru City over the weekend.
Seidi said the WAEC certificates are prerequisites for high school graduates seeking college education, but regretted that graduates do not receive their WAEC certificates on time.
“It is very discouraging to see graduates waiting and roaming around for their certificates up to three years at times before getting them to further their education,” he added.
He then asked the county education office to prevail on the Council to issue these certificates to students early, as it is the basic requirement to enable them enter higher institutions of learning.
