By D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, July 20 (LINA) -The Grand Cape Mount County Health Team (CHT) and its partner, Medical Teams International (MTI) have reached an agreement with health authorities  in neighboring Sierra Leone to hold cross-border Ebola prevention meetings in the interest of two countries.

According the head of the CHT, Dr. Julius Garbo, communication has been shared with Sierra Leonean health officials who have agreed to participate in the meetings that are intended to save the lives of citizens of Liberia and Sierra Leone.

He added that as part of measures outlined recently, the CHT and MTI will also create awareness on Ebola prevention measures which are intended to educate the citizens on how to prevent the spread of the deadly Ebola virus in the county.

According to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) correspondent in the county, the decision was reached recently during an Ebola prevention strategy meeting in Sinje, Garwula District.

Dr. Garbo said the CHT and MTI also reached a unanimous decision to supply the St. Timothy Government Hospital in Robertsport with 2,250 gallons of fuel and 1,350 gallons of fuel to the Sinje health center for the months of July, August and September 2014 during the Ebola prevention campaign.

He added that the two bodies will create temporary job opportunities for more than 200 persons that will assist them to distribute 4,000 leaflets and 500 posters in villages and towns in the county carrying Ebola awareness messages.

Meanwhile, the two organizations are urging the county authorities to prevail on concession companies operating in the county to support the project to achieve its goals.
