Senate Takes Holiday Leave

By Winnie T. Dixon, Intern

MONROVIA, July 18 (LINA) - Senate President Pro-Tempore, Gbehzongar M. Findley, has announced the official recess of the Senate in observance of the Independence Day celebration on July 26.

Members of the Senate, who are taking their annual independence break in conformity with tradition, are expected to return in two weeks.

According to the Liberia News Agency, the pronouncement was made during regular session on Thursday, July 17, by Senator Findley.

This year’s celebration was scheduled to be observed in Sinoe and Grand Kru counties but was transferred to Monrovia, the Liberian capital, due to “poor road condition and excessive rainfall in the two counties.

The day will mark the 167th independence anniversary of Liberia.
