Bomi Supt. Says Pres. Sirleaf’s Monument “A Remarkable Honor”

By David Seedee, LINA Bomi County Correspondent

TUBMANBURG, July 16 (LINA) - Bomi County Superintendent Samuel Brown has described as “a remarkable honor” the decision by the Monrovia-based Crusaders for Peace to build a monument in the county in honor of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

He said the organization’s decision was “no mistake, considering the meaningful contributions the Liberian leader has made and continues to make in Liberia and Africa.”

Superintendent Brown made the observation on Monday during the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the monument in Tubmanburg, Bomi County.

He said the people of Bomi County highly appreciate the decision to honor the President of Liberia, who is also “a daughter of Bomi” in such a fashion.

He assured executives and members of the organization of Bomi citizens’ support in the construction of the monument.

Brown recounted that President Sirleaf is the first female President of Liberia and Africa as a whole “whose leadership has brought peace, coupled with the infrastructure and economic development that are taking place in the country today.”

Superintendent Brown said the people of Bomi provided the land for the construction of the monument without any cost attached.

“The people of the county will stand with the executives and the members of the Crusaders for Peace to ensure that the Golden Image Monument is constructed and dedicated in honor of President Sirleaf,” Brown said.
