Bomi Health Facilities Growing
By David Seedee

TUBMANBURG, Jan15 (LINA) – Health facilities in Bomi County are on the rise with the construction of clinics in parts of the county using monies from the County and Social Development Funds.

The County Health Officer of Bomi County Dr. Rhoda Peters said the county now has one referable hospital and 22 public clinics.

She said in addition, there are four private clinics operating in the county, all of which are under the supervision of the County Health Team.

She told the Liberia News Agency in Tubmanburg Wednesday that the latest were two clinics built in Golodee Lasanna and Beasaar Towns.

Dr. Peters said the clinics, which were built through the effort of the County Legislative Caucus and the county authorities, have been turned over to the County Health Team, which will assign health practitioners to them.

She said the Tubmanburg Government Hospital presently has three Medical Doctors, but stressed the need for an additional doctor because of the growing number of referral
cases from other counties.

Dr. Peters named Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu and Montserrado counties as areas from where emergency are sent to Tubmanburg.

She, however, regrets that the hospital has two ambulances and other vehicles that are over 10 years old, inhibiting the County Health Team from providing full services to the people of the county.
