MOE Ends 3-Day School Grant Training In Grand Gedeh
By Chris Nyenapee, LINA Grand Gedeh County Correspondent
ZWEDRU CITY, July 15 (LINA) - The Ministry of Education has ended a three-day training to broaden the knowledge of school principals and parent-teacher association (PTA) chairpersons on school grant management.
The workshop held in the auditorium of the Zwedru Multilateral High School at the weekend, brought together over 80 principals and PTA chairpersons from public and community schools.
Tchien District Education officer, Harrison Kaywea, told the Liberia News Agency that broadening the knowledge of school principals and PTA chairpersons on school grant management will build a better relationship between parents and the school system for increased enrolment.
He said because school grants depend on enrolment, it was important that school principals and PTAs get a clear understanding and get involved in motivating parents and guardians to send children of school-going age to school, emphasizing that the more students per school, the more support from the project.
The Ministry of Education and LEAD school grant project is a Global Partners for Education (GPE) project. Its objective is to encourage better management of school grants on which PTAs serve as signatory.
The workshop brought together public school principals from Tchien Education District and four community schools, mainly in Zwedru, provincial capital.
