Ohio Council Donates To Schools In Porkpa District

ROBERTSPORT, July 15 (LINA) –The Ohio State Council in the United States of America has donated 2,000 textbooks and several computers to schools in Porkpa District in Grand Cape Mount County.

The Paramount Chief of the District, Jamiyatu K.Watson, who made the disclosure upon return from the United States recently, said the consignment is expected to arrive in the country next month.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) recently, Paramount Chief Watson said she personally negotiated with the administration of the Ohio State Council for the text books and computers in an effort to make learning conducive for youths of the district.

Meanwhile, Madam Watson has expressed regret that in this technological era, most Liberian students are lagging behind in computer education, noting that this could render them incapable of competing with other students in the sub-region.

She also regretted that most schools in the country lack laboratories and libraries that teachers and students could use for research and other purposes.

Madam Watson then commended the administration of Ohio State Council for the donation, and warned would-be recipients to refrain from selling the items.
