Mana Clan Targets Bridges, Roads In 2014

By David Seedee

TUBMANBURG, Jan 15 (LINA) - Mana Clan in Senjeh District, Bomi County, will target reconditioning of roads and bridges with funding from the County Development Fund (CDF) in 2014,

Chief Gbelley Gray said the decision was intended to address the deplorable condition of roads and bridges in the clan.

He told the Liberia News Agency Wednesday that most bridges along roads connecting towns and villages in the clan were damaged, thereby hampering free movement in the area.

Chief Gray said the clan is expected to benefit from portion of an allocation of US$200,000 for Senjeh District for Fiscal Year 2014, and that upgrading the roads and bridges will bring economic benefits to farmers by accessing markets.

The Chief said projects completed in the clan in 2013 included the Jumbo Town Public School and Clinic, Sackie Town Public School, built by Plan Liberia near the border with Gbarpolu and Grand Cape Mount counties, and a 10-room health center in Beafini and three health centers in Gayah Hill.

Meanwhile, Chief Gray has disclosed that the World Bank is constructing a junior high school in Beajah, the headquarters of the clan, which is expected to be completed this year.

He also said the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) sponsored an agriculture project in the clan that deals with cassava and pineapple cultivation to help empower residents of the Clan.
