By Korboi Gbellewala, LINA Lofa County Correspondent
VOINJAMA, July 11 (LINA) -The Samaritan’s Purse International Relief Organization (SPIRO) in Lofa County has embarked on an Ebola awareness campaign in Foya District to help contain the deadly disease.
The campaign, which started over the weekend, has covered more than 273 communities, 40 churches, 16 schools and three market places in Foya, according to the Liberia News Agency.
Disclosing this during an Ebola virus coordination meeting with the Lofa County Health Team in Voinjama recently, Samaritan’s Purse official Cyrus Dadeah said residents in those areas were reminded of the dos and don’ts in preventing the disease.
Dadeah pointed out that his organization has trained two of its staff and 42 general community health volunteers on how to prevent the spread of the virus.
He also told the county health team that SPIRO has already begun renovating hand pumps at the Foya Borma Hospital in Foya, while assessing the ambulance at the Foya Borma Hospital that will help transport suspected Ebola patients in the area to the hospital.
SPIRO is one of the leading NGOs in Lofa County partnering with the Lofa County Health Team in combating the outbreak of the Ebola virus in the county.
