Top Nimbaian Troubled By Nimba Leaders Wrangling

By Wellington Patrick, LINA Nimba County Correspondent

SANNIQUELLIE, July 11 (LINA) -A prominent citizen of Nimba County, Dehpu Zuo, has expressed concern about the internal wrangling among Nimba County authorities.

Zuo, who is Assistant Internal Affairs Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Affairs, observed that the continued internal feud among county leaders could derail the peace and development of the county.

He expressed the concern Thursday in an interview with the Liberia News Agency correspondent in Sanniquellie.

He blamed the violent strike action against ArcelorMittal on the lack unity among local authorities of Nimba County.

He said the Caucus and the office of the Superintendent could have arrested the situation through dialogue had the two groups been working together in the administration of the affairs of the county.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Internal Affairs Minister has called on the Traditional Chiefs and Elders Council of Nimba to intervene and resolve any dispute within the county leadership.

In another development, Zuo has condemned the strike action against ArcelorMittal, saying neither violence nor vandalism would provide the demands made by members of the affected communities.

He said dialogue would have given more than what members of the most affected communities were demanding.

The Assistant Internal Affairs Minister has at the same time recommended a probe into the matter and that the law must take its course.
