By Comfort Johnson, Intern

MONROVIA July 5 (LINA) - Journalist Octavin Williams on Friday appeared at the City Court at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia to answer to charges of disorderly conduct and simple assault.

Mr. Williams was recently arrested by police in Monrovia for simple assault and disorderly conduct against Deputy Police Inspector for Operations, Col. Abraham Kormah.

According to the police charge sheet, Williams, aged 22, at 18.20 hours on July 2 assaulted the deputy police chief on Gurley Street in Monrovia..

Police preliminary investigation established that on July 2, while Col. Kormah was on a police operation in the Gurley Street area, a police officer stopped Williams for plying the street with an unregistered vehicle.

The police charge sheet said the vehicle was carrying a foreign plate from Minnesota in the United States, but that when accosted by the police, Journalist Williams chose to challenge the authority of the police officer.
