Cape Mount CEO To Bar ‘Fathers, Mothers’ From Day School
By.D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, June 29(LINA) - Grand Cape Mount County Education Officer (CEO) has disclosed that no boy or girl who has a child will be allowed to enroll in morning and afternoon sections of school in the county beginning the 2014-2015 academic year.

CEO Dwight Harvey said allowing boys and girls who have babies to enter day
school is one of the contributing factors to the indiscipline in the Liberian education system.

He made the statement at the weekend when he spoke at the kindergarten graduation program of the Urias B. Freeman United Methodist Elementary and Junior High School in Robertsport.

He said Liberia is the only country in the sub-region that allows “baby mothers and fathers” to enroll in day school instead of the night school which is primarily designed for adults.

The Liberian educator said the county school system will operate night schools beginning the 2014-2015 academic year to enable adults to attend school.

Earlier, the Principal of the school, Rev. Tetarose  A. Mensah, said her administration will introduce vocational courses in the school for the benefit of the students in the not too distant future.
