Pres. Sirleaf Donates To Harper Erosion Victims

By John Bropleh, LINA Maryland County Correspondent

HARPER, June 24 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has donated a consignment of food and non-food items valued at over L$100,000 to victims of the recent sea erosion in Harper, Maryland County.

The President made the donation recently during her visit to Maryland County where she addressed the first graduation ceremony of the William V.S. Tubman University.

President Sirleaf told the victims that the donation, which included 20 bags of rice, two bales of used clothes, two bales of shower slippers and five cartoons of fish and L$10,000, was her way of identifying with them.

Madam Sirleaf then assured the victims that Government will relocate them to a safer place to avoid future embarrassment of erosion from the Atlantic Ocean.

She also told the victims that government will use the US$10,000 donated earlier to buy zinc to help in rebuilding their new homes.

Meanwhile, the jubilant victims have commended the President for the donation, describing her as “a true mother.”
