Man, 21, Charged With Aggravated Assault

MONROVIA, Jan 13 (LINA) - Police in Monrovia have charged and sent to the Monrovia Magisterial Court a 21year-old man for aggravated assault and criminal attempt to commit murder.

According to a police charge sheet, defendant Martin Cooper and colleagues on January 6, 2014 allegedly brutalized a man identified as James Zonoulu of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), resident at the Camp Schiefflin Military Barracks.

The charge sheet indicated that defendant Cooper and others, who are reportedly at large, intentionally inflicted injury on the forehead of victim Zonoulu on that fateful night when confusion erupted between them.

Meanwhile, Defendant Martin Cooper was has been remanded at the Monrovia Central Prison pending court trial.

In another development, police have also charged and sent to court two men identified as Jean Nyamen and Rufus Kollie for ‘criminal mischief and theft of property’.

The police charge sheet quotes complainant Jose Russell as saying he took his vehicle for repairs to the garage of the two men where the accused allegedly extracted parts from it.

According to the charge sheet, the accused admitted during police preliminary investigation to extracting parts from the vehicle and selling them to an unidentified person.

Meanwhile, both men have been remanded at the Monrovia Central Prison pending court trial.
