Educator Calls For Licensing Of Teachers

By Calvin Brooks

MONROVIA, June 15 (LINA) - The President of the National Association of Liberian School Principals Montserrado County Chapter is urging the Ministry of Education to license teachers before entering the classroom.

Momo Kamara explained it would prevent individuals from using the classroom as an alternative source of employment, while they are not professional teachers.

Kamara made the statement Saturday at the program marking the sixth graduation and closing exercises of the David G. Barshell, Sr. School System in Paynesville outside Monrovia.

He stressed that if the education system should improve and compete with other educational standards in the sub-region, licensing professional teachers should be considered a factor to strengthen the education system.
