TUBMANBURG, June 15 (LINA) - The Acting Program Manager for Plan Liberia Bomi County branch, Mr. Alphan Kabba, has released the organization’s plans for 2014-2015.
Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency in Tubmanburg recently, Mr. Kabba said Phase Three of the Girl Power Project will constitute a key part of the plan.
He said the project provides skills training for girls in the county.
Kabba said Careful Humanity and Liberia Children Foundation in Tubmanburg and Youth United for Development Association in Dewein District are the implementing partners.
He also disclosed that as part of the plan, Plan Liberia will continue its school assistance program through the Ministry of Education.
He said during the 2014-2015 operational year, Plan Liberia will also train teachers, provide incentives for them and scholarships in schools previously earmarked in Gbarpolu and Montserrado counties.
Mr. Kabba said Plan Liberia will also build teachers quarters for schools in Gbarpolu and Montserrado counties.
He said seven teachers quarters will be constructed in Gbarpolu County and seven in Montserrado County.
Mr. Kabba further disclosed that a Climate Change project, a new project in Bomi County, will also be part of the activities.
He said the project will discourage deforestation in Bomi County through the burning of charcoal, and a shift from upland farming to lowland and swamp farming, which is more fertile and profitable.
Mr. Kabba said 40 communities in the four districts in Bomi County will be a part of the project, with each district providing 10 project communities.
He said the NGO ZOREDO will be the implementing partner for the project and will engage in lowland farming.
According to Mr. Kabba, the project was given to Plan Liberia by the German Government for four years, with Plan Liberia providing training, seeds and all the support needed to implement the project.
