Bong Top Hospital Cries For Ambulance

By Ballah Kollie, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, June 15 (LINA) - Bong County Development Superintendent Anthony Sheriff has appealed for a new ambulance for the C.B. Dumbar Maternity Hospital to enhance the delivery of health services to citizens.

The county’s maternity hospital has only one ambulance left by Medicin du Mode which halted support to and operation of the hospital more than a year ago.

Responding to a plea from Dr. John Doddeh, acting medical director of the hospital for authorities of the county to provide a new ambulance, Sheriff said he is baffled as to why decision-makers have failed to prioritize the needs of the hospital.

He noted that the authorities need to prioritize health, educational and other pertinent social services as the county receives over US$2.6 million annually from both county and social development funds.

He has, however, promised to ensure a representation of the hospital at the next special council development sitting where decisions are made on the expenditure of the county’s annual intake.

The central regional C.B. Dumbar Maternity Hospital receives and treats thousands of patients from Bong, Nimba,  Lofa, and Margibi counties.
