Radio Bomi Appeals For CDF Allotment
By David Seedee, LINA Bomi County Correspondent

TUBMANBURG, June 113 (LINA) - The Station Manager of Radio Bomi, Zinnah Cassell, is appealing to the county leadership to make available the US$45,000 allotted to the station in the Social Development Fund to ensure its smooth operation.

Cassell noted that the amount, which was allotted in the 2013/2014 development fund, will go a long way in improving programming and the technical status of the radio if made available.

He said the Bomi County Legislative Caucus, the county administration, and the Project Management Committee (PMC) should consider the station among the priorities when paying out allotments.

Cassell told the Liberia News Agency recently that the management of Radio Bomi is finding it difficult to operate effectively due to lack of funding.

He said the station owes its staff seven months in salary arrears due to the acute shortage of funds, noting that the economic situation in the county does not permit the entity to raise enough funds to meet operational demands.

He said the station being the only community radio in the county remains a major source of information for the people of Bomi and the public in general.

Radio Bomi has been unable to effectively carry out its broadcasts since it was hit by lightning on May 22, 2014.

The station is presently in need of US$1,500 to replace damaged parts of the 52 KVA generator which supplies electricity to the station, according to Cassell.
