Prexy Commits CU To Serving Humanity
By Ballah Kollie, LINA Bong County Correspondent

SUAKOKO, June 13 (LINA) - The President of the Cuttington University (CU), Dr. Henrique Flomo Tokpa, has said the institution will continue to serve as a source of academic empowerment for residents of Suakoko District and the nation as a whole.

CU sits on 1,500 acres of land gotten from the people of Suakoko District for the relocation of the Episcopal University from Maryland County to the then central region of Liberia.

The land as well as those occupied by the Central Agriculture Research Institute (CARI) and the Phebe Hospital, was reportedly taken by government in reaction to female Paramount Chief Na-Suakoko’s advocacy in defense of the region.

Dr. Tokpa noted in an interview with the Liberia News Agency that instead of the establishment serving as a curse to the district and county, it has over the years  contributed to the development of human resource capacity through the provision of quality education to thousands of citizens.

Cuttington University is one of the nation’s premier universities located in central Bong County.

Owned and operated by the Episcopal Church of Liberia, the institution receives annual subsidy from the national government to help facilitate the delivery of quality education to citizens.
