SANNIQUELLIE, June 12 (LINA) - The chairman of the Nimba Legislative Caucus, Senator Thomas Grupee, has reechoed a call by the Caucus for an amicable resolution to mounting tension between the Superintendent and the county’s Project Management Committee (PMC) head.
Recently, Superintendent Fong Zuagele suspended for time indefinite PMC chairman Clinton Layweh for alleged misappropriation of US$300,000 and failure to submit supporting documents on expenditure of past public funds.
Grupee said according to the 2010 National Financial Policy that brought into existence the PMC, the caucus as an organized body is responsible to preside over the sitting of the County Council.
He said if a committee created by the County Council Sitting is having troubles with administrative issues ahead of the Council Sitting, the caucus must use its oversight responsibility to resolve such situation.
He added that such endeavor is meant to avoid commotion ahead of the preparation of the County Council Sitting.
The Senator made the statement Wednesday when he spoke on Radio Sehnwai on its breakfast show via mobile phone.
Meanwhile, PMC chairman Layweh has rejected the misappropriation allegation leveled against him, describing it as false, misleading and with no iota of truth.
He said he was prepared to present supporting documents to substantiate every transaction during his administration.
