DEO Announces New Education Ministry Policy On Fees

By Wellington Patrick, LINA Nimba County Correspondent

SANNIQUELLIE, June 12 (LINA) - The District Education Officer (DEO) of the Sanniquellie Mah District, Mr. Lawrence Kelselee, has disclosed the new policy of the Ministry of Education relative to school fees for academic 2014/2015.

Kelselee told school administrators and parents Tuesday that the ministry has mandated that all students from Kindergarten to 9th grade pay an amount of L$500 for enrollment in the academic year 2014/2015.

He was speaking during the graduation ceremony of 59 Kindergarten students at a pre-primary school in the New Sanniquellie Community in Sanniquellie, the provincial capital of Nimba County.

The District Education Officer said the amount would be used to cover the costs of the Parent/Teacher Association (PTA), school badge and ID card fees.

He admonished parents to make every effort to support the education of their children as the economy of the nation begins to gradually improve.
