House Grants Works Minister’s Request To Appear June 26
By Hilary Vasco Wiagbe

MONROVIA, June 12 (LINA) - Public Works Minister Antoinette Weeks has been rescheduled to appear before the Plenary of the House of Representatives on Thursday, June 26, to provide information on roads and other infrastructure in the country.

According to the Liberia News Agency, this was predicated upon a request by Minister Weeks in a communication dated June 10, and addressed to the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mildred Sayon.

In the communication read in Plenary Session Thursday, Weeks asked the body to reschedule her appearance due to “several pre-scheduled and pending commitments of the ministry.”

Weeks named some of the commitments as a jointly sponsored workshop by the ministry and the Government of Sweden through the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), and a meeting with ArcelorMittal for the Ganta to Yekepa Road Upgrade Project on June 12, 2014.

She also mentioned a visit to the Southeast, mainly Grand Kru and Sinoe counties, to assess road conditions and work progress and several other pending in-house and external project-related issues, as prompting the request to reschedule her appearance.

”In light of the above mentioned commitments of the Ministry, we appreciate your understanding and consideration in rescheduling the Ministry’s reappearance before the House of Representatives, as this will assist the Ministry in expediting some urgent maters to ensure that the Ministry remains proactive in executing its duties and responsibilities,” Weeks maintained.
