MONROVIA, June 12 (LINA) - The Liberian Senate has resolved to cite the Minister of Finance and the Administration of the University of Liberia (UL) next Tuesday to address the complaints of students of the A.M. Dogliotti College and the School of Pharmacy.

According to the Liberia News Agency, the students wrote the Liberian Senate two weeks ago complaining of poor conditions and a decline in the fiscal situation at the institution.

They also said students no longer enjoy regular supply of electricity, which affects both the quality and quantity of instruction.

The Liberian Senate reached the decision to invite the UL administration and Finance Minister, Amara Konneh, on Tuesday, June 17, after the reading of a communication from the Senate Committee on Health and Social Welfare.

Speaking on the issue, Health Committee chairman Peter Coleman said there was need for the issue to be taken seriously as the ratio of doctors to patients is rapidly widening.

Coleman said: “Let us put all seriousness on this issue; the ratio now stands at 30,000 patients to a doctor; it affects every one of us.”

At the same time, the plenary has decided to make provision to pay remunerations to the affected medical institutions in the 2014/2015 UL budget.
