Bad Roads Cut Voogbardee From Sinoe
By Calvin Brooks
MONROVIA, June 9(LINA) - Sinoe Country Representative Matthew G. Zarzar has disclosed that Voogbardee Town in Sinoe County has been cut off from the rest of the county due to the deplorable condition of roads.
Representative Zarzar said the county leadership has over the years been engaging the Ministry of Public Works to recondition the road to no avail.
He made disclosure in an interview with Liberia News Agency over the weekend at a program marking the 26th Anniversary of the Voogbardee Development Association (VODA) held at the Monrovia Demonstration Elementary School in Monrovia.
Zarzar said the road leading to Voogbardee Town is so deplorable that citizens have decided to raise funds to recondition it on a self-help basis to ensure that vehicles and motorbikes travel to the town.
He noted that the lack of roads is hampering the construction of health centers, schools and the provision of other basic social services, noting that this was creating difficulties for the people.
Representative Zarzar said funds raised would be used by the people to recondition the road manually, until the Ministry of Public Works is ready to rehabilitate the Voogbardee Town road that was constructed before the civil war.
