Official Urges Facelift For Sanniquellie City

SANNIQUELLIE, May 29 (LINA) -The City Corporation of Sanniquellie has called on residents to clean their environs and breakdown dilapidated structures to give the city a facelift.

The Secretary General of the City Council, Jerico Dowaziah said City Mayor Mary Gonlepa and the City Council decision to remove structures that deface the city still remains in force.

Early last month, Mayor Gonlepa mandated dwellers of Sanniquellie with poorly constructed structures to remove them, as a means of giving the city its required beauty.

The city officials have also warned pedestrians to desist from dropping trash in the streets of Sanniquellie.

Dowaziah told the local media Wednesday that the City Corporation is contemplating on issuing a month-long ultimatum for residents to construct latrines in their homes, while authorities consider building public latrines.

He noted that many residents built homes in the past without latrines, thus contributing to the pollution of the city.

Dowaziah warned that city authorities will not hesitate to institute administrative actions against violators of the city ordinances.
