Winnie T. Dixon, Intern

MONROVIA, May 27 (LINA) - Nimba County Senator Prince Y. Johnson has submitted a draft bill to the Liberian Senate for an Act declaring the 10th day of December each year as National Heritage Day to be celebrated as a national holiday.

In a communication read in session Tuesday by the Secretary of the Senate, Senator Johnson said most Liberians rely on their cultural heritage and land for their livelihood, “yet there is not a single day set aside to showcase the beauty and cultural attributes of the Liberian society.

Speaking further, Johnson appealed to his colleagues to see reason to pass the draft bill, noting that when this is passed into law, it will afford Liberians the opportunity to showcase the cultural beauty of their country.

The Act was received by the Plenary and sent to the committee on Judiciary to advise the body on appropriate actions in two weeks.
