Maryland Police Nab Man, 27, For Kidnapping, Trafficking

HARPER, May 22 (LINA) - Police in Maryland County have arrested and charged a 27-year-old man identified as Alexander Wilson with kidnapping and human trafficking.

Wilson, a Liberian resident in Ivory Coast, reportedly crossed into Pleebo on May 10 and took away two girls to work at his restaurant in Abidjan, the Ivorian capital.

Disclosing this to the Liberia News Agency in Harper Wednesday, Maryland County Police Commander David Walker said Wilson was arrested on May 13 by Ivorian security with the two girls identified as Beatrice Thomson and Yvonne Nyema, both aged 17 years.

Police Superintendent Walker further disclosed that Wilson, who was arrested as he tried to cross into Ivory Coast through an unauthorized entry point, told Ivorian security during investigation that he ran out of transport money and decided to take the bush road.

He was then turned over to Liberian security with the two girls.

Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police has charged Wilson and turned him over to the court for prosecution.
