Five Cases on Gbarpolu Court Docket

By Emmanuel Mondaye, LINA Gbarpolu County Correspondent

BOPOLU CITY, May 22 (LINA) – There are three rape, one murder and one aggravated assault cases on the trial docket of the 16th Judicial Circuit Court in Gbarpolu County for the May Term of Court.

Making the disclosure to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) recently in Bopolu, the Clerk of Court, Joseph Y. Thomas, said three defendants, Emmanuel Sando, Peter Doe and Sekou Kallon, have been indicted for rape.

Also, defendants Musa Konala and Miatta Massaley are indicted on murder and aggravated assault charges.

He said already, the court has completed the screening and interview of individuals to serve as trial jurors.

Thomas has, meanwhile, warned that jurors who fail to show-up for work at the court will be replaced to avoid any delay in the effective execution of the trial docket.

In a related development, the Bopolu City Magisterial Court has set free 12 persons arrested in connection with the April 14, 2014 attack on Gbarpolu County former Police Commander, Sgt. Prince Hana, and a colleague in Wiaman during a raid on drug dealers and traffickers.

They were released by the court after it was established that the defendants were not part of the attack on the police officers.
