Karnplay Mayor Wants Road Project Fast-tracked

By Wellington Patrick, LINA Nimba County Correspondent

SANNIQUELLIE, May 21 (LINA) - Karnplay City Mayor Evelyn Gweh has called on the Nimba County Project Management Committee (PMC) to launch the Gbehlay Geh Administrative District road project as some residents have demolished their structures for the road project.

Mayor Gweh told the Liberia News Agency on Wednesday that since the purchase of the yellow machines by Nimba County in 2009, Gbehlay Geh has never benefited from the road upgrading project going on in the county.

She said recently, the county authorities confirmed that they would deploy the earth-moving equipment to the district in early May 2014 to initiate the upgrading of major feeder roads.

She regretted that up to present, decisions reached between the PMC and officials of the Gbehlay Geh Administrative District to begin the road project in early May have not been realized.

However, in a telephone interview with the Liberia News Agency, Development Superintendent Teeko Yorlay said road upgrading projects by the PMC have come to a standstill pending the resolution of “administrative bottlenecks.”
