KAKATA, May 21 (LINA) -The Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC), a natural rubber plantation company located in Gibi District, Upper Margibi County, has announced it will shortly commence upgrading its health center to a full-fledged hospital.
It said in addition to the existing health center, it will construct a 10-bedroom building to include units for maternal and child health, reproductive health, screening and Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI).
Other components of the new building will be a pre-delivery room, standard delivery unit and a post-delivery room.
Other features are up-to-date, modern mini-surgical, emergency and short stay facilities, medical laboratory, dispensary, record room and a conference/reading room.
Other facilities are out-patient and in-patient departments, isolation unit, kitchen, warehouse and morgue.
SRC said following the construction work, it will upgrade the hospital's human resource capacity by employing medical doctors, more physician assistants, nurses, certified midwives and other essential and trained medical staff.
The management also disclosed that a full 24/7 ambulance service will be provided at the medical center to convey patients to the hospital and or refer them when the need arises.
The interim general manager of SRC, Nicolas Bergerot told the Liberia News Agency in a recent interview that the upgrading of the current health facilities is part management’s seven-year development plan which started in 2010.
At present, the company has a work force of over 2,000.
When the health center is upgraded to a hospital, it will be the first hospital in Gibi District and the third hospital in Margibi County.
