VOINJAMA, May 19 (LINA) - A local Chief in Voinjama District, Lofa County, Oldman Dorborwoi Zayzay, has urged youths in Lofa County to seek education to prepare themselves to make meaningful contributions to Liberia’s development.

He made the call Saturday during the dedication of a bridge constructed on the Kpakolomai road in Voinjama District on self-help basis.

According to the Liberia News Agency, the bridge was constructed recently by youths of Kpakolomai Town to buttress Government’s reconstruction drive in the county.

Speaking further, Oldman Zayzay told the youth to use the knowledge they are acquiring to sensitize their colleagues who are not in school on the importance of education and the need for them to change their behaviors for the better.

Oldman Zayzay, who is also a former General Town chief of Zogolemai Township, also charged youth to lead lives worthy of emulation.

He noted that the youth constitute the highest percentage of the workforce and population of the county, noting that they must be knowledgeable and skillful in order to contribute positively to the reconstruction process of Lofa County.

Also making remarks at the ceremony, the Town Chief of Kpakplomai Town, Yarkpawolo Paywala, commended the youth for the self-help initiative.

Earlier, Youth Chairman Forkpayea Zawuluyan thanked the youths and the entire citizenry of the Kpakolomai Town for their support towards the construction of the bridge.

Although the youth chairman Foryea Zawuluyan did not indicate the cost of the project, he pointed out that youth of the area provided the funding and manpower to build the wooden bridge.

He expressed optimism that with the construction of the bridge, economic activities will be enhanced in the area.
