GBARNGA, May 19 (LINA) – Bong County Senator Jewel Howard-Taylor has lauded President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for appointing Dr. John S. Flomo as president of the Bong Technical College (BTC).

She said the appointment of Dr. Flomo signifies the Chief Executive’s conviction that Dr. Flomo is up to the task.

In an interview with the Liberia News Agency over the weekend, the Senator pledged to work with Dr. Flomo to ensure the successful completion of construction work on the Bong County Community College.

President Johnson-Sirleaf appointed Dr. Flomo as Interim Management Chairman from April 1 to March 31, 2013, Interim president from April 1, 2013 to last week, when he was re-appointed.

His appointment is subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate.

The Bong Technical College situated adjacent the Doloken Gboceh High School, is currently under construction.

Already some US$4 million has been spent on the college, which is about 65 percent completed.

Delegates at the Saturday, March 1, 2014 Special Development Council Sitting allotted US$800,000 to complete the roof of certain parts of the building, while funds are being sought to complete the remaining parts.

The college is currently being hosted in the compound of the Gbarnga School of Theology, an institution owned and operated by the Methodist Church of Liberia, where rent is paid for its occupancy.
