Construction OF Joint Security Office At Standstill

VOINJAMA, May 19 (LINA) - Construction work on a joint security office in John Town, Voinjama District in Lofa County, is at a standstill due to lack of construction materials.
Disclosing this to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) Sunday in John Town, the Bureau of Immigration (BIN) Commander, Major D. Mulbah Sumo, said construction work was halted in November 2013.
Major Sumo did not state the cost of the building, but pointed out that the project is an initiative of security officers assigned at the check point and the citizens of John Town and Duogomai Town.
Major Sumo said the building, when completed, will host a prison cell, offices, toilet, bathroom and other facilities.
He said the self-help initiative was intended to help government ease the problem of lack of office accommodation, which is currently hindering the operations of joint security in the area.
He disclosed that the citizens have agreed to provide local building materials such as planks, crushed rocks, dirt bricks, food, as well as manpower to restart the work, while security officers and some prominent citizens in the area have provided additional funds.
Sumo named cement, doors, windows, paint, among others, as materials still lackingbto complete the project.
