Judge Aspires To Clear Docket In May Term

Johnson Liway, LINA Grand Bassa County corresponden

BUCHANAN, May 18 (LINA) - The Presiding Judge of the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court of Grand Bassa County, Cllr. George W. Smith says his goal for the May Term of Court is to clear the docket of criminal and civil cases.

He said each term has a period of 42 days within which the court has to work, although Saturdays and holidays are excluded, he wants to make sure to utilize Saturdays to clear the docket.

He disclosed that there are 14 cases (six criminal and eight civil) on the trial docket for the May Term.

Judge Smith made the assertion during the week in an interview with journalists in his chamber at the court.

He also admitted that much was not achieved during the February Term of Court and attributed it to the unavailability of a prosecutor, a situation that has been addressed by the Solicitor General of Liberia.
