LIWESU Commends Labor Ministry

By Robert Dixon

MONROVIA, May 10 (LINA) -The president of the newly-certificated trade union, Liberia Welding Society Union (LIWSU), Mr.Morris S. Massaley,  has commended  the Ministry of Labor for granting the body recognition as a legally constituted union.

He said the organization will endeavor to work to improve the welfare of welders in the country and seek to address the lack of safety measures at work places for welders throughout Liberia.

Addressing a news conference in Monrovia Friday, Mr. Massaley said the new organization is also faced with the challenge of providing standardized training and equipment for welders in the country, as well as the empowerment of welders to become entrepreneurs.

Mr. Massaley has, meanwhile, called on the Liberian Government to support the Union in the achievement of its goals and objectives.
