Logistics Shortage Hurt Margibi Police
By Richard Baysah, LINA Margibi County Correspondent

KAKATA, May 7 (LINA) - The Liberia National Police Detachment in Margibi County says the lack of vehicles and manpower is hampering its operations in the county.

In a monthly report for April, 2014 sent to the Chairman of the Peace and Security Pillar of the Agenda for Transformation, the Detachment said logistics problems have made it difficult to rapidly respond to crimes whenever they are reported.

According to the Liberia News Agency, the report further said that police officers need uniforms and other basic accessories for use in the performance of their duties.

According to the report, the four depots, including the Charge of Quarter at the Kakata Detachment Headquarters, have no operational phones to communicate when necessary.

The report said currently, there are a total of 75 officers assigned in Margibi County, noting that this number cannot enable the detachment to run three shifts and give day-offs to the officers.
