BOPOLU CITY, May 7 (LINA) – A land dispute has developed between the leadership of the Gbarpolu University Students Union (GUSU) and the owner of the Bokomu Shopping Center in Bopolu City.

GUSU President Joshua Yassah told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) Tuesday that the two lots of land was provided the student community by the late Chief Jallah Lone in 2000 to construct a modern student intellectual center.

He said due to lack of funds to immediately begin construction work on the land, GUSU decided to process all the relevant documents for the land.

Mr. Yassah said to their greatest dismay, they met an unfinished house on the land owned by businessman Daniel Galabah.

He said he reported the matter to the relevant county authorities for their intervention to find an amicable solution to the dispute.

When contacted via mobile phone, Mr. Galabah said he acquired two and half lots of land from the late Chief Jallah Lone in 2008 and that he has a tribal certificate to show ownership of the disputed land.

The disputed parcel of land is situated at the back of the Bopolu Resource Center in the Promised Land Community.

Meanwhile, lawyers representing GUSU are preparing a lawsuit against Mr. Galabah, GUSU President Yassah told the Liberia News Agency.
