KAKATA, Jan 7 (LINA) - A three-day workshop for electoral supervisors of the National Election Commission (NEC) opened Tuesday in Kakata City, Margibi County.

NEC Elections Magistrate in Kakata, Mr. Fumba Swary said the workshop is intended to train electoral supervisors ahead of the Voters Roll Update slated for January 13 to March 5, 2014.

Magistrate Swary told the Liberia News Agency that the election supervisors serve as middle-men between the magistrate’s office and field workers.

He said the workshop doubles as a Training-of-Trainers exercise that will empower the electoral supervisors to train other field staff to effectively conduct the voters roll update exercise.

He revealed that already the NEC central office in Monrovia has provided the elections office in Kakata with the required logistics to facilitate the Voter Roll Update process.

About 14 electoral supervisors have met the required qualification following a rigorous vetting process, Swary said.
