GOL Paymaster Suggests CBL Cash Center in Harper
By Prince Nagbe& John Bropleh

HARPER, April 29 (LINA) - The head of the Ministry of Finance Pay Team in Harper, Maryland County is urging the Central Bank (CBL) to set up a Cash Center in the city to solve the difficulty encountered in cashing government checks.

Mr. Cyril Howard said workers in Harper with government checks find it difficult to cash their checks because commercial banks in Harper refuse to honor such checks.

He made the appeal to Information Minister Lewis Brown during his welcoming ceremony at the Harper City Hall by officials and citizens of Maryland, headed by Acting Superintendent Nathaniel Toe.

According to the Finance Ministry staff, whenever government workers get their checks they have to go to Pleebo, the second city in Maryland, to encash them, consuming a lot of time as the banking system works dismally.

Howard said he learned that there are no CBL cash centers in other parts of the country, such as Grand Gedeh, Nimba and Bong counties for government workers to easily get their salaries.

In response, Minister Brown thanked Mr. Howard for the observation and promised to speak to the appropriate authorities so that solutions can be found to the problem.
