HARPER, April 28 (LINA) - The William V.S. Tubman University in Harper, Maryland County, will hold its first graduation program with 80 students expected to graduate on June 19, 2014.
Making the disclosure to Information Minister Lewis Brown, who was visiting Maryland County, the university President, Elizabeth Davis Russell, said students will be graduating from four degree granting colleges -- Education, Agriculture, Health Sciences and Management.
She said the institution believes in academic excellence, adding, “The 80 were properly vetted by the administration, which is convinced that they are qualified for graduation.”
She, however, told Minister Brown that housing is a major impediment for students from the other counties who enroll at TU, noting, “The cost of housing in Maryland is very high.’
According to Dr. Russell, plans are under to complete the University’s dormitory to ease the huge burden of housing being faced by her administration to accommodate mainly students from other counties.
She is hoping that Government will increase allotment for TU in the upcoming national budget to help the University carry out major projects on the campus, including completion of the dormitory.
