LWSC Undertakes Sewage Project In Buchanan

By Johnson Liway, LINA Grand Bassa Correspondent

BUCHANAN, April 27(LINA) -The Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) has cut sod to construct a modern sanitation facility in Buchanan, the provincial capital of Grand Bassa County.

Giving an overview of the project Friday, Gabriel S. Flabo, LWSC Project Manager for Water Supply and Sanitation said the project has three components.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Flabo named the components as infrastructure provision, institutional support and project management.

He blamed the delay in starting the project to political changes at the LWSC affecting three managing directors.

Also speaking at the ceremony, LWSC Deputy Managing Director for Technical Services, Frankie Cassell, said the African Development Bank is sponsoring the rehabilitation of Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project (UWSSP) in three cities -- Buchanan, Kakata and Zwedru.

He said the cost of the Buchanan project has been combined with that of Kakata, making a total cost of US$336, 427.19.
