Official Says Lifting Freeze On CDF, SDF Prudent
By Chris Nyenapee, LINA Grand Gedeh Correspondent
ZWEDRU CITY, April 24 (LINA) - Grand Gedeh County Development Superintendent Abraham T. Gbeway, has described as prudent the decision by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to lift the freeze on the County and Social Development Funds.
“This action by the Ministry of Internal Affairs is in the right direction,” he said, noting that the decision raises hopes for the implementation of development projects earmarked in the 2012/2013 fiscal budget.
Mr. Gbeway made the statement recently during an interaction with reporters at his office in the Administrative Building in Zwedru, the provincial capital of Grand Gedeh County.
Meanwhile, Gbeway has disclosed that plans are underway to reconcile financial statements from the county and social development funds in order to fast track development projects.
He said verifying how much money the county has to work with, as mandated by the County Development Council (CDC) July 2013 meeting, is important for future audits.
“As we move to implementation, it is important that figures be verified for the people to know what to expect,” he pointed out.
It can be recalled that in its meeting last month, the CDC allocated more than US$1million to the county’s eight administrative districts, with each receiving US$45,000, except Putu which got US$50,000.
